Default Digital Calipers

I am wondering if anyone has invested in an electronic digital caliper. If so, is there a brand that you recommend? Ease of use?

My eye sight isn't what it used to be. I was hoping this would help.

Thanks

Hi SB

Grizzly have many types,, I have many of them, the one I like best is my 4" long one and the 6" one .. 4" one was about 12.oo bucks and the 6" one was about 14.oo bucks if I recall that right...

The 4" one I keep in my pocket when I go and pickup up wood at HD,Lowes, etc. you just never know anymore if what they say about the wood is true..that and to check fastners..

The 6" one is in the plastic box in the shop all the time and they both have BIG read outs ,like you I'm getting older and need just a little help now and then...

My goodness, the price is reasonable. I looked at one from Tool Crib, which looks almost identical and it is 75.00

Are the Grizzy ones accurate?

Thanks

Hi SB
"Are the Grizzy ones accurate?" = yes ,very accurate

I also have a 18" one and it's very accurate also...

I check them all the time with drill bits shanks and a guage I have, I have and do drop them sometimes..
I should note,, I should have got the 3" one but I miss it when I got the 4" one...

for woodwork yes they are plenty good enough. You only start seeing a problem when you start using them for accurate machining work

If theres a Harbor Freight store near you, they sell 4" and 6" for $16. Both switch from inch to metric. For $20 you get the one that also switches to fractions. They all include plastic padded cases and an extra battery.

I doubt that brand means anything Steve as I'm sure they all come out of China. Over the years I've had several 6" ones and as tested on twist drills they all appeared to be accurate. I use them on wood and metal projects. Down under, the prices have been steadily dropping but even so $49.00 Ozzie dollars is the cheapest I've seen for a 6" one.
