Default New Woodworking Show Coming.....
Report Post Report This Post!

As many of you may have seen I am a fan of the Woodsmith and Shop Notes Magazine. The parent company, August Home Publishing is headquartered over in Des Moines Iowa. They have been producing some great podcasts for download for a while and the Woodsmith Store... where they produce the podcasts which are tapings of seminars they put on is the sponsor locally of the New Yankee Workshop.

Begining next week they will begin to air a new woodworking show in cooperation with Iowa Public Television:

I expect that the podcasts led to this. I think this will be expanded to other states soon so look for it! They have a very knowledgeable staff and I am hoping this will be a success for them. Next time I get to Des Moines I have to check out the Woodsmith Store!

Indeed it would be Bob, it sure would. Maybe one of these days they will get someone to sponsor them. Tough and impossible to do without the sponsorship and funding. Kreg Tool is another Iowa company (located up by where my dad lives) as well and I expect they are a big part of this and Woodsmith has a big relationship with Rockler as well.

The first show aired tonight. They do a good job just like in the pod casts but the quality is much better. The show is not a "Build A Mahogany Dresser" type show but a techniques show. First one was on frame and panel doors. I filled out the feedback on the show and got a response from Doug Hicks the Executive Editor of Woodsmith Magazine emailed me and said mine was the first response to the show they have received. They will continue with the pod casts for now. Doug said that it will be added to other surrounding states in January and if you want to receive it locally email and call your local PBS station... they will listen as they are always looking for new programing.

hello challagan
i just wanted to thank you for posting the link for woodworkingshop/podcast i just set and watched 3 seminars, router table tips, raised panel construction and pocketholes and man that made me excited. For a newbie they really explained it very carefully on when too and when not too. very very excellent for a beginner and again thanks for the link

Corey,

You are one lucky dawg, have I ever told you that?

At least it sounds like they will continue the pod casts until they expand the TV programing. I love their presentations and have learned so much.

Corey,

Thanks for the information on the Woodsmith Shop program; unfortunately, here in Texas it is not yet available. I just fired off an email to the local PBS station asking them to consider it and the Router Workshop for programming. Maybe . . .
