Rusty -
That is way cool --
I'm in and out of the organge box so often I dont know why I haven't noticed it.
That's more money than I wanted to turn loose of right now -- but might well be something to hold off and ask Santy Claus about.
I am intrigued that it functions as an oscillating sander too --

Corey -- thanks for the suggestion -- and yes if I go the benchtop route it will most likely be something lightweight like the Craftsman or the Delta.

I don't doubt for a second Bob's description of yours as a 'dream machine'
But I do maybe half a dozen small projects a year and maybe 3 or 4 larger ones.
While I don't want a Yugo -- I dont really need an Escalade either --
Just good solid dependable Chevy.

Yes, I understood what you were looking for cowboy. The one that Rusty posted is the one I was referring to above from Rigid. It's a neat one, I almost bought that...kills 2 birds. What I bought is kind of over-kill but I got a great deal on it and was flush at the time It kills 3 birds with one stone Good luck Cowboy.

Corey

It switches between spindles and the belt very easily, and all oscillate. I mounted mine to a piece of mdf to store under the bench, and clamp to the top when in use. It has a good working dust port that accepts a standard shop vac hose. The table tilts and holds all the drums and inserts in place when all the way down. Also has a place on the back to stow the belt assembly when using a drum. I have used the heck out of mine and its great for shaping patterns

Cowboy,

I got one similar to this http://www.homedepot.com/webapp/wcs/...ctId=100341716 a few years ago; 6" disk and 4" belt on sale @ Lowes for about $86.

Gears got stripped and repaired under warranty.

Would like to change the disk from PSA to Hook & Loop... can't get cover off to make the change... when they serviced it, they put things on so tight, they didn't want anyone, but them, to take it apart!

I would NOT get another one!

I do like the disk... creeping up to lines... and getting angles uniform.

I inherited an 8" disk sander which is shop made and merely a motor with the disk mounted on it's shaft... works great!

I've been quite happy with my HF belt sander, BS, Drill Press, and Oscillating spindle sander. I can use the bucks saved for other goodies!
