| Forum Contributer Supreme Forum King | Because I have to keep on the right side of moderators, here is the requested photo-shoot of the lathe table. It is in no way intended as a tutorial, it is simply showing the methods that I used on this occasion, the last table was fully dowelled, the next one may use halving joints. The width and depth were dictated by the piece of 1" thick Melamine coated particle board that I bought a while back from the local salvage yard for about $3.00, and the height was suggested by Bob Noles as the centre about level with my elbow. The rest of the timber was from a huge cable drum and is of unknown species but it required a lot of machining on the jointer and planer before I could get started. It won't surprise you that I had no plan drawn up, only the measurements so it simply evolved.

| Forum Contributer Supreme Forum King | A last minute decision was to make a bottom shelf. I forgot to take shots of ripping and fitting the edging strips but there is a shot showing the easiest way that I have found to mitre edging, using the disc sander with mitre gauge. I have now decided to enclose the table and fit doors and another shelf, this will be in the next few days so attempts at pen turning will be delayed.

| Registered User Supreme Forum King | Looks very nice Harry. I have to agree with Bob about the use of sliding doors.

| Retired Moderator Supreme Forum King | Looks great Harry. I am sure this will help you get many hours out of your new lathe. Not sure where you are going to put this in the shop but maybe you will want to make a plastic pipe tool holder like Bernie and Bob Noles have. Pretty neat! Nice job Harry and where is the pen? ![]() Corey

| Senior Moderator Supreme Forum King | Ok, time for a confession. While Harry was working on this project Glenmore and I kept calling and interupting him, then of course we asked if the table was finished yet... Isn't it wonderful having friends like us? Nice job Harry, looking forward to seeing the shelves and doors.
