| Registered User Supreme Forum King | What are these used for? A friend gave me one and I've never used one before. I have a couple of ROS I use all of the time. Thanks, Boxer |

| Forum Contributer Supreme Forum King | Hi Boxer I think you are taking about the sander that can take on 1/4 sheet of sand paper, that's to say sand paper comes in about 8" x 11" sheet and you cut it into 4 parts to snap in and under the spring hold down wires.. It's now low tech with the new ROS because of the holes in the sand paper to help pickup the sand dust..I have a old B & D that comes with a hole punch jig that will put in the holes the same way, but it's a low tech stuff now.. ![]() ============ Quote:

| Registered User Supreme Forum King | That's the sander I'm talking about. I'm getting a new Bosch ROS for myself as a Xmas present. I already have the Bosch variable speed. This one is not. I just wondered if there was an application for the 1/4 sheet sander that I was not aware of. Thanks for the response. Boxer |

| Forum Contributer Supreme Forum King | Hi Boxer Well no , but alot of auto fender and body guys like them...just like the air palm type they are easy to replace the sand paper and the paper is a bit cheaper ...just fold the sand paper and rip it to size, quick and easy and if you are on your knees that can save time.. But both types do the same type of job.. ![]() ============

- 1 being that is a 1/4 sheet sander --- That means I don't need to buy any special paper for it -- all I have to do is tear a sheet of sandpaper in 4ths -- and bingo --- I have four sheets for the sander. - 2 being that since it is square it can get into corners better than my ros - 3 for me anyway -- it is easier to handle than my ros when working on narrow pieces like table or door edges or end grain. The ROS wins though in giving a smoother sanding on large surfaces. As for high-tech --- low-tech. Often as not you will find me wrapping a piece or sandpaper around a foam pad and rubbing by hand. What would you call that -- no-tech? ![]()

| Senior Moderator Supreme Forum King | Boxer, you can tell these guys just don't know how to properly use this tool by their replies. You remove the sand paper, hand the tool to the attractive, caring and considerate essential other in your life and prepare for a wonderful back massage.

| Official Greeter Supreme Forum King | Funny Mike, BUT, I had a MD use something I thought was a half sheet sander on my back once. Gave me a scare at first, till I seen there was no 60 grit sand paper on it.

| Registered User Forum Geek | In Dr. Zook's scenario -- I can see the value of a mechanical device. But -- In Mike's scenario -- I'm afraid I have to take respectful issue - When I have an ". . . attractive, caring and considerate essential other . . ." approaching my bare back ---- the technology ain't been invented yet that I would prefer to her sweet warm hands. NOW -- if there isn't such a lady handy -- I could see maybe mounting the sander on a doorpost and . . . . naww -- I would just as soon wait for the lady. ![]()
