Default shop vac air cleaner

Has anyone tried the Shop Vac air cleaner, how does it work?I'm looking to get rid of the fine dust floating in the air.Would a Jet or JDS system be a better option? It will be used in a basement shop about 20x20 area.

ShopVac products perform well, but I am sure this unit is not large enough for your area. Length x width x height will give you the square feet of air to clean. The more times an hour you change the air the better. Base your purchase decision by air flow and you should be happy with the results.

Looks like a good idea. Just wondering how fine the secondary filter is. I would want one at least down to 2 micron... preferably 1 and those aren't cheap. But! Look at what you would save by DIY.

I saw a home made cleaner in the wood shop of a friend's dad. It had filters on 4 sides (the bottom and 3 of the vertical sides). Each side had 2 "pre-filters" and inside the box was super fine corrugated and apparently expensive filter. But there was a.... I'm going to call it a separation chamber... inside the box as well. It wasn't real big... maybe about 2 inches "thick" and inside the box was kinda like... ducted to this chamber. He said the air slows down and stuff falls out just like the DC connected to his tools but on a much finer scale. He had obviously put a lot of thought into this and from the looks of his shop... it worked extremely well. Everything in his air cleaner was either "scrapped or scrounged" as I remember him saying.... except for that inner filter. I think he said it costs about $40 to replace that one but he doesn't have to replace it very often.
