Stan - I spent 19.95 from Grizzly for a seperator and 22.50 from Ace Hardwardware for a 30 gal galvanized trash can, hooked it up to my Jet 1 1/2 hp vaccuum, planed 26 blue pine boards 6 feet long x 6 inches wide, from 3/8 inch thick to 1/2 inch thick and I didn't have to sweep more then 2 cups of sawdust or shavings from the floor. It aLL went into the 30 gallon galvanized can - best 19.95 investment made this year-also bought one that fits a 5 gallon bucket and your shop vac - biggest mistake and worse investment made this year - unless you only plan to plane 1 or 2 small boards. You can still dump it the compost pile or stable.

OK You'll get old someday - how about 3/4 to 1/2 - I only made tht mistake top see if someone would pick it up (I'm sur you'll believe that) - congrats your very observent.

I agree that a seperator would be good, having something larger than a shop vac also.
I might have to see about that this summer, will have to fabricate some sort of chip deflector on the planer also.

I hate to correct you again but mistake is spelled misteak, I learned that from Norm..... Some one was asking asking if he ever made any mistakes when building the stuff on the show..... he said no he never makes misteaks.

Actual I was glad to see your post, I too have a trash can/plastic top seperator and am well pleased for the cost. I was thinking of the 5 gallon version for using with my router table..... do you think that would work? I end up having to move tools around to work sometimes and moving a small bucket and vac sounds easy........

Don't know Ed if would work or not, but you just gave me an idea, Thanks to Snowshoe I ordered a Shark cover and splitter that has a dust port on the cover for my table saw - maybe I could rig the 5 gal version to it, then at days end I could just dump the 5 gal bucket, or it could be that the "stuff" that comes of the blade is to fine and it will just go in the vac - if so, I'll try it on a router connection
