Simply clamp a board on your press for a fence that will put the bit at the proper position. Then it is only a matter of sliding the board to be morticed along the fence for each hole. A brad point bit works good for this to keep it from wandering on you. After you have the holes drilled you don't have to have a morticing chisel, just a good sharp bench chisel will do to clean out and square the hole. If you are worried about keeping the hole sides straight, clamp a board on top and use the side of the board as a guide for your chisel. Hope this helped. ![]()

| Forum Contributer Supreme Forum King | Both Bj and Mike have come up with sensible answers, however it will come as no surprise when I say that routing with a simple jig is the way that I would go, but it's important to remember that when the wood is flipped over, so must the template in case it isn't dead on.

Sorry for not responding sooner, as you know, the computer has been in the shop, just got it back this am. I think I can get it to fit my "supershop", (almost identical to the shopsmith MarkV). The quill should be the right size diameter for it, I will give it a try later this weekend. My craftsman however, it's too large.
