Default mobile base ?

anyone here use the harbor fright mobile base they sell for 49.00 ?
was thinking of making my own out of 1 1/2 channel weld the corners and
add some mounts for wheels. but by the time i was done purchasing the supplies i would be close to the cost of this 1.
it is for my new band saw so im worried about being stable

Hi vegeta88

I would suggest the one below,, because most band saw are bit top hvy. and they do like to tip,, the mobile base below will let you get the band saw almost on the floor but still let you move it around when you need to pull it out from the wall..

http://www.grizzly.com/products/Mini-Mobile-Base/G8683

I should note I have 3 of them and they do the job well plus you can lock them in place.. with the two hand knobs..
One for the band saw one for the jointer, one for the grinder all top hvy.tools.

HI vegeta,

Bob just gave you a great listing for a mobile base. These are strong, sturdy and as he said, you can lock them in place.

Sounds Good vegeta88

It's not big deal but take a hard look at the picture you will see sq.tubing that slide into each other and hold the frame as one kart ,they have two bolts that screw into them on each end and they have about 3" of steel inside the other so to so you can pull it out by 4" more in total on each part and then just tack weld the tubes in place..or just use one bolt on each end of the sq. tubes..

Just one more note you can also use 1 1/2" sq.wood stock in place of the side in steel parts...you may have seen the Make Your Own base karts use this type of setup...( rip some 2 x 4 stock up and you have the parts you would need to make it fit just about any tool in the shop) quick and easy fix.

Or use the old pallets you have around the shop (most are Oak)
