| Registered User New Member | I a m helping a friend build a bathroom in his basement and when we got the walls up we noticed that the shower upstairs was leaking from the drain. We haven't hung sheetrock yet because we don't want it to get ruind and would like to fix the problem first. We changed the seal around the drain 2 times now and it still leaks. From what I can tell I'ts from the floor flexing when someone takes a shower. How could I fix this without ripping the shower out and redoing it? |

| Forum Contributer Supreme Forum King | Hi scraps You know what they say about short cuts... ![]() But this is what I would try and it's long shot at best... Some of the showers are built around a base pan ( shower pan) or to say they used one inplace of concrete ,,,and your right you can't seal it right if it moves,I would drill a 2 " hole in the pan and then put in some patch concrete, it comes in boxes form HD/Lowes pack it in with a stick and I mean pack it in. Then go down stairs with some 3/4" plywood and a jig saw and rebuild the floor so to speak from the bottom side up use 2 pcs. of plywood the outdoor type or to say the suff they use on sub floors that's is a true 3/4" thick...then put in some bracing off the sub floor and using 2 x 4 or 2 x 6 with pocket hole to hold them in place to the sub floor... You may want to rebuild the floor 1st. but that's up to you. The concrete will take a day or two to set up and dry out...because it's in air tight box so to speak... Below you will see a snapshot of the plywood you will need to use, chip board NOT Part.B. .. Good Luck with the rebuild... ======== Quote:
