| Registered User Forum Fanatic | Fellow woodworkers, Being old and cheap seems to run together, at least for me. I had a hard time picking up those screws and nails that I dropped on the floor. Solution: Magnet on a cord. Just walk over with the magnet and wala, the screw is picked up, without bending over. Thats the old part. Now for the cheap part. decided to try veneering. Ha, you need a vacum press. Solution a BIG vau bag (you know, the ones that you put shirts and stuff in and hook up to a vacum cleaner....... Works rather well as a vacum press, and you can use your shop vac. Bud

| Registered User Forum Fanatic | I normally use grabbers anyway, and the current ones have magnetic ends that work well to pick up screws, and allow me to reach and pick up many things, magnetic or not. They are available for about $20 at some drugstores, sometimes at WalMart and KMart, and certainly at medical supply stores. There are various styles, some magnetic some not, with various types of jaws and handles. I highly recommend them for anyone who does not like to or cannot stand on stools, has trouble bending over, etc.

| Registered User Forum Fanatic | Hi mftha, I like the grabber with magnetic ends tip. The ceiling in my workshop is just over 8', enough to turn a 4x8 sheet end for end and not come in contact with the shop lights. A grabber with magnets could reach small items higher up. Must take a look-see at wally Mart. Thanks for the tip. Take care Doyle
