Default Backer board for Katie of Gifkins

Does anyone know the best method of replacing the mdf backer board that comes with jigs like the Katie or the Gifkins?

It is not standard sized MDF. Would pine or aspen work, if paned down to the dimension?

Any thoughts?

Thanks

HI Steve

Not sure why you want to replace it..

The new one will look the same after you use it a time or two..

But if you went to far and damage it ...you can use just about any thing you have on hand the FLAT and true...but this time put in a tee slot that you can use for clamping the stock in place..
