Our old digital (still in use) is a Kodak easyshare 4330. My wife had good luck with it, but I have some trouble getting decent pictures.

At work we use the older powershot 510 (the reason I bought the 520), an Olympus, and the old Mavica workhorse. All 3 are surprisingly rugged with the amount of abuse they take, but the canon wins my vote as favorite.

Megapixels aren't everything, anything over 4 is really pointless unless you are printing posters. I'd be more concerned with the Optical zoom. A 3x optical zoom is pretty standard, and gives great pictures. Cameras from "camera" companies tend to have better optics in my opinion.
I too agree on Canon... great cameras..
I've had a Powershot A310 for some time now... really like it... more powerful than I need... got it on sale, I think for around $140.

I would buy another Canon when & if I ever need a new one!

I use a Canon Digital Rebel XT and a Canon Powershot S410. Both great cameras!

I use Nikon D70s and a D200, but for a point and shoot, I'd buy Canon all the way (just don't tell any of my Nikon friends!)

I have a Nikon Coolpix L1 and love it... Simplicity is paramount to me on that kind of stuff. It was bad about eating batteries until I got the right kind for it...
It "likes" Metal Hydride rechargables. For routiine photography, it suits my needs.
