MY first router was Porter-cable. Model 694 also have a 690 Since then i bought a freud to use in the table,. and 1617 Bosch. I think the bosch has the best feel and is lightest in its class.

The one I like best was a Black & Decker ,a little light green sucker, when I was a young man my boss got it for me one Xmax. But I didn't use it to offen when I was 18 years old nor did I know how to back then.
So I sold it one day or traded it off one day ,I don't recall, they say that's the 1st thing you lose...
I have been looking for that little router or one like it for a long time but now that I'm a old fart I like PC routers and have my share of them.
I have tried many routers and I always come back to the PC.

Has anyone heard of this brand?
I have one of these as well, don't use it much. I have no opinon of it though. It works.

Got a beefy Triton TRA001 for the table / freehand and a Bosch POF500A for jig work with the lathe. Looking for a good fixed base/plunge combo and a trimmer.

My first router was a Craftsman, and I even bought the Craftsman table for it. That was about 30 years ago, the interlock switch does not work anymore, but I can still use it. May not be to safe but I don’t use it often. It did everything I needed it to do. Today I have a PC 7518 for a router table I built and a Dewalt 618 that I use as a hand held.

Anyone remember Ingersoll Rand. My first router (40 or 50 years ago) was an IR. I still use it....nice and light. I only wish it would swing 1/2 in shank bits.

My first router was a Ryobi ($99 with table). For a cheapo it works ok but only takes 1/4" bits. My second is a Triton 2 1/4 plunge mounted on a table I built. This one is sweet either in table or hand operated.
