I happen to be the proud owner of one of these little beasties. It's called a 'Detail Carver'. My wife got it for me when I was doing crafty stuff. I use it occasionally for some detail work in trying to enhance a project. Works ok, but I'm not very proficient with it.

It is a Ryobi chip carving tool that uses various shaped blades used for carving figures, etc.

Looks like a die grinder to me, but I'm probably as wrong as everyone else.

This "What is it?" will again work a bit differently so make sure you read the rest of the post so you can answer the questions I'm asking............

For 200 points you need to answer these three questions correctly and be the first one to do so:
1) Do you own one of these? (Does not have to be from this company)
2) What is the correct name of this tool (the company that sold it called it.....)?
3) What reasons would one have to own one of these (some detail please)?

Now read the questions again, look at the picture, have a go at the answers.

Ed
1. Got at least five of them. Won the first one in a "kitbash" contest in 1978.
2. Rotary Tool, most just call it a "Dremel"
3. Model making. Other hobby is model trains. Invaluable tool for modeling.
(pls see: http://kitbash.ourpage.com/kitbash/p...sh_12-1978.pdf )

Cordially,
Gerry
