| Registered User Supreme Forum King | This one is on the hard side but I'm going to leave you to guess or show me that you know what it is right away. I will give 20 points to the first 3 answers right or wrong and the first right answer gets 100 points. Now remember we need details of how this is used or what it is for. Good luck! Ed |

Yes they do measure inside dimensions of holes. How to use them..... well that is not quite how it works..... The measuring head is relaxed in that the wedged shape that is pulled in by turning the handle is loosed. You slide it in place then as you turn the handle it expands the head until it makes contact. Then you stop and remove it, then as was mentioned you measure the diameter. So why would you not just stick a drill bit in the hole? Well for one thing what drill bit would you use? fractional, metric, numbered, lettered, what if it was done with a drill then reamed to size???? Hey why guess when you can get the answer to a couple .001" ........ Got the idea? Hope so. So the good Dr got close and since this is horse shoes it was close enough.
