I don't know what it's called, but I think I saw an article on the NET showing something that looks very similar and it's a measuring device for lathe turners to measure bowl thickness and diameters Angus | ||

I partly agree with Angus, could it be for checking for eccentricity of a "round" object?
__________________ Harry The best advice that I can give a newcomer to routing is, learn to use the router mounted, this can be as simple as a board held in a vice, with the router firmly attached and a simple fence held with clamps, and when he/she feels competant and confident in it's use and is familiar with all aspects of safety, THEN, and only then proceed to learn how to use the router hand held. Angus, you got are getting warmer. It doesn't measure bowl thickness, but it is used on a lathe. Harry, yes it measures a round object, but can you be more specific. | ||

Perhaps for measuring the major and minor diameters of a taper to give the angle of the taper?
