I noticed a piece of furniture on The New Yankee workshop show the other day that had a floral sort of design in it, Norm was actually showing some other detail but it caught my eye. The petals were kind of comma shaped with the bigger end cut much deeper into the work. I've been thinking about it and think I would need to build a 5 sided pyramid style fixture that had curved fence for the router base to follow as it cut each individual petal. Am I making sence here? Has anyone done anything similar to this who could offer suggestions? Thanx

I have seen Router Rosette jigs now & then... they aren't very hard to make and use... you might do a Search on "Router Rosettes" or "Routed Rosettes" to see what you get... You make a template and then tilt it when making the cuts, to control the deep-shallow parts of the cuts. Might try Google too... Edit: I did a little searching... results: NYWS Lowboy... http://www.newyankee.com/getproduct3.cgi?0409 Round Rosette... http://www.amazon.com/RVDC-Rosette-...3892004&sr=1-52 http://www.amazon.com/Oak-Rosette-A...892193&sr=1-170 http://www.amazon.com/Oak-Rosette-A...892193&sr=1-181 http://www.amazon.com/Oak-Corbel-Ro...892479&sr=1-424 /edit Last edited by Joe Lyddon : 11-01-2007 at 12:09 AM.

Hello Ragtop. I saw Bob and Rick do something like that on a table leg in one of their shows but I don't remember which episode. In any case, Bob used a sloping, teardrop shaped, jig. Maybe some of the other members can recall the episode.

It sounds to me like the big carving that Norm did on that big tiger maple highboy piece. If so that was actually a hand carved piece. Corey

Hi curiousgeorge 511 - Tear Drop Table: “Tear drop” describes the leg design in this occasional table. Shop made fixtures ensure easy routing to produce this decorative piece of furniture. http://www.routerworkshop.com/S500.html#58 =========== Quote:
