Hi Stacey

We have a member or two that have used laminate flooring (Pergo) for the top and they seem to like it...so I would say go for it... I would suggest using the 1/4" thick stuff so you can drop your mounting plate right in the pocket..with the MDF holding up the router mounting plate..

Just a NOTE *** the laminate flooring plays hell with the router bits..
