Default Mailbox post. Sketchup drawn.

Our old mailbox post is over 20 years old, and made out of a cross beam from an electric pole. Not very snazzy. It has been run over once and took the punishment, but it is time for a new one.
As most of my projects are born, I looked all over the internet for ideas. I found a couple I liked, and used them as models for Google Sketchup.

Basically, it is made of 3 boxes. A tall one for the post, a short one for the replaceable skirt, and a box for the arm that holds the mailbox and makes the paper box.

If I had a mailbox like that Mike I'd be checking every five minutes to make sure it hadn't been stolen!

That post is WAY too fancy for what I want. I couldn't find the right pics.
Here they are. Much closer to what I want. Also, an updated Sketchup pic.
I'm using parts of both. The post on the left has the news box underneath, and the right one is more of the style I want.

Since the in-process pics got trashed, here is what I have right now.
I would upload the Sketchup file, but it is an invalid file type.

HI Mike

Here's a shot of mind,,, it's made out of plastic wood, 2" x 6" ( deck wood) with bride joints, it should last a long ,long time if some one doesn't nail it with a car,,, this is the 3rd. one I have put out by the road...I'm amaze how many can't stay off the side walk.. LOL
I ask the mail person if I could move it back and they said NO, I would need to get the OK from the US Post Office in Washinton.DC...I said OK how about on the house and he said NO,NO, the same thing.. LOL ,I said OK how about if I get you a Xmax. gift this year and he just walk away LOL LOL hahahahahaha

We do have some kids in the neighbor that like to play mail box base ball and they got me one time, then I put in some 800 lb. rocks LOL

Mail box base ball =,,you stand up in a open car/PU and take a swing at the mail box as you go by the mail box, home run if the mail box goes down in parts

Several years ago our mailbox ended up in the next yard, along with another. The driver got out and told his passenger he better drive. This was after they had run over several trashcans along the way. About 2am.

All done. Got it painted and ready to go. Now all I have to do is wait for the ground to thaw, so I can plant it.
I'll be setting a treated 4x4 in the ground and the post will slide right over it.
A couple screws in the back to hold it.
Attached is the SU file in zip.

Default All done and mounted

The last few days have assured the ground is thawed enough to dig a hole, mount a 4x4 post, and slide the new mailbox post over that. Used a couple screws to attach it to the 4x4 and it's done. Sure looks a lot better than the old one that was broken off just below ground level.
Now, if only the grass will green up.
