Default Mail box 2.0

A neighbor stopped by a few weeks ago and said she wanted a mail box like ours.
I told her OK, I'll deliver it when done.

I used 1/2" MDO (ply sign board) and Gorilla glue. All edges are mitered and glued. Makes a very strong assembly. Should last a while.

I added a 3/4" oak ply scroll as a brace/decoration.

Nice Mike, BUT, how come you don't have scroll work on yours?

We have the same braces on our porch, so I made the post to match the porch.
Besides, I didn't have a scrollie at the time.

I've said it before Mike and I'll say it again, you don't post many projects, but when you do they're beauties, and this one is no exception. I still have one of your lighthouses on my to-do list.

Hi Mike

Good job, I will say it's about time you got off your butt and put all the neat toys you have to work...

Thanks Harry and Bj.
I was involved with restoring the jointer, so that took all my time up. Right now I'm project-less. Gotta think of something else now.

I think I might be missing something (of course this also might not be complete), but I don't see a door? (also wrong side to see a flag)
So is this the actual mailbox, or the mount under it (where the newspaper goes on a rural route) and how do you keep the mail dry? (maybe I need to search for other pictures of your completed one, sorry)
