Default One for the Little Nipper

We were told last month that we are going to be Great Grandparents next April.. "Holy Crap" I said..
Well anyway, I had just recieved the Sept. 07 issue of Wood magazine and picked it up again.. On the cover is a heirloom cradle.. I told Wifey, I'm going to make this for the little nipper..

Here's how it looks today.. Almost ready for a final sanding and finish..
It's been a fun project so far..

I saw that project in the mag as well. Hoping I don't need it for a long while. Wonderful job Mike... it looks great.

Looking good Mike. I'm sure this will be used with great pride.

Nice Job Mike

It's always nice to have the little ones around they always smell so nice
well most of the time LOL ,,nothing like having new ones around and I sure he/she will like taking a nap in the cradle and mom or dad can put a toe on it and just rock away...

Really nice work Mike. You also got a jump on that Great Grandchild's cradle. If it were me I'd still be working on it the day the little person arrived.
Great workmanship!!!

Here's the finished product.. I'm pretty proud of it.
I finished it with Minwax natural Oak Poly thinned 2 to 1 with mineral spirits.. Then I applied a good coat of Minwax paste wax..

If I had researched mattresses before starting it, I might have made it 2 inches wider and 1 or 2 longer.. We can get a mattress about the right size (12x28 inches) but may have to adjust the size.. No big deal, as I also own and operate a sewing machine.. I also make kites..
