The Bosch 1617EVS? Not the Plain Jane 1617 I assume?
The 1617 is lower HP than the EVS. In any case it's all good; it's a Bosch!

It is the evs model 2 and a 1/4 horse. Check your local store shows on Internet 1617 evs. It didn't come in a case.

Yup, me to. Don't need a case; it lives on a shelf.

I have two 1617's and one 1617EVS. My favorites out of all the routers I have. My 1613EVS is a close second. I have a couple of MRC23EVSK's as well and for some jobs I prefer them. I don't often use my 1619EVS and my PR20 Colt gets used a lot for drilling holes.

Bosch is spoken here!

I got my first use to day. Worked great I routed a 3/8 round over top and bottom of a desktop I'm building. Needs a little lite sanding be ready for sealer and few coats poly . Need a couple warm days to finish. It's going to be a roll top desk. I want to round over the s curves on the roll top and cut the grove for the roll. Make the slats to make the roll and mount on the canvas . I have all the part cut for roll top assembly . The top for the roll top needs to have round over profile routed.

Default 1617 snap ring issue

I overstressed the fine adjust mechanism and caused the snap ring to pop off. Bought what looked like replacements at the hardware store. Did not work well. So then I got a couple of the proper rings free from Bosch (high marks for service there.)

But the "proper" rings seem small and hard to get on and the one I did get on came off.

What's the trick--in the installation or buying some other snap ring or some other shop work-around?

The part in question is 2610996054.

I hauled over a dozen power tool cases to the curb a few weeks ago. Some of them I'd had for 20 years and never used any of them, so I decided they weren't worth the space they take up. I know some people haul their tools around to jobsites and need cases for them, but my power tools never leave the shop. I do keep a beater jigsaw to loan to friends, but they can't borrow my routers. I tell them to just bring the work to my shop and I'll help you.

Andy I finally tossed the majority of my cases out too . They were a PITA as I need every bit of room I can get in my garage . Some of them were nice cases too .

I'm not very big on lending out tools and started a thread on that very subject last year.
I get kinda chocked when things never come back in the same shape as they were before they left my garage .
I lent out my Delta bench top combo belt/disk sander and it came back broken . Bought another one and lent it out and it came back broken . Funny as I never have issues with tools breaking ?
So I bought a belt sander that weighs almost 500 pounds . This way I can't lend it out
