Hello to all, I am new to this field. actually I am building a CNC carving machine for wood working. the machining dimensions will be 2500mm*1300mm*200mm and structure will be made up of plywood and aluminum plate. I am having two barriers right now
(i) should i go for rack and pinion drive or ball screw is a good option.
(ii) How much torque stepper motor will do the work.

If any one can suggest me it would be a great help..
thanks

For this size machine you should go with rack & pinion. Leadscrews longer than about 3 feet whip too much. Longer travels are better done with rack & pinion.

Nema 23 500 ounce inch are probably enough. You can always go bigger.
