I went with a friend on a small road trip for him to pick up wood. I didn't really need any wood today.

While there I spotted and bought a Whiteside SC64 1/16" diameter conical spriral bit and an Amana 1/8" 4-flute 1 3/16" cutting length end mill.
Ballnose Bit, 1/16 Dia, 7/8 Cut Length, 1/4 Shank, Whiteside SC64
46292 CNC 2D and 3D Carving Flat Bottom x 0.10 Deg Angle x 1/8 Dia x 1-3/32 x 1/4 Shank x 2-1/2 Inch Long x 4 Flute Solid Sub Micrograin Carbide ZrN Coated Router Bit

I already had the Whiteside SC66 1/8" conical spiral. This one is just for more detail, will see if it really is necessary. My thought is that it needs to really be a small 3D with the step-over of a 1/16" ball nose.

The Amana is unique due to the long cutting length of 1 3/16" and being a four flute. Amana has a chipload feed/speed chart for it and at 1/8" cutting depth they recommend 35 - 45 IPM in wood. My calculator says to use 27,000 rpm at 40 IPM for 1/8" cut depth.

Hopefully I will torment them in the next week.

Steve.
