Dirt cheap CNC router

Or so they say. To me $500 isn't exactly dirt cheap. Moot point anyway, 'cause I don't want one, I'm thinking one would pretty much take all the fun out of woodworking. So I'll just stick with my homemade masters/templates.

And, of course, was not looking for anything even vaguely resempling this, was looking for something on backyard trains.

I saw this a couple of days ago, and looked at their video and info. It said that presently, there's no capacity for raising and lowering the cut. They're working on a Z axis feature, for around an extra $60. I have my doubts as far as any precision cutting, such as sign work, because of the chain guide suspension that depends on the weight of the router to hold itself in place. It seems like any knots or inconsistencies would cause the bit to cause it to jump off the line vertically. But I'll keep my eye on it and see what develops.
