Hi Everyone,
I am new at CNC Routing, also new at Forums, I think that makes me a real newbie. I plan to retire at the end of the year, so looking for something to do. My wife has a small store where she sells many small engraved wooden signs and plaques, thus CNC Routing. I am a Tool and Die maker and program and run a number of CNC metal working machines. However at this time I have very limited funds for this project, that is why I was looking at, and asking about BOBSCNC router.

Lots to choose from, Chuck. What size work do you plan on cutting? What software you gonna use? You want to build or buy a plug and play setup? How much space you got? AND -- how much you willing to spend?

That's for starters.

John,
Thanks for the reply. Yes.. I have been looking for a while, (Google, U-Tube etc.). Right now I am looking at BOBSCNC KIT ($600), F-Engrave (Free), and Universal G-Code Sender (Free), just to get my feet wet and see where I go from there. I have played a little with this software, it seems to work ok, not the most user friendly but I think I can get where I'm going with it.
Thanks again.

Try Vectric Vcarve or Aspire. They will let you download a "trial" version of each and let you play with it to your heart's content. It just won't let you download the files you create. They also have a whole boatload of tutorials you can watch and learn from. Vectric is by far the choice software by CNC guys here.
