Default Spoilboard Maintenance Tip

Here's a tip that just came to mind. For anyone inclined to fix minor cuts in the spoilboard, 3M Glazing and Stop Putty (the red stuff used by auto painters) works great. It's lacquer based, so it dries quickly. It's easy to sand smooth, and doesn't cause MDF to swell. Durham Rock Hard works well for deeper cuts, but because it uses water to mix it up, it will cause some minor MDF swelling. It's localized, so sanding the putty does an adequate job of of leveling everything out. This is a good way of extending the life of your spoilboard. You can find the glazing and spot putty and Durham Rock Hard at the big box and most hardware stores. The glazing & spot putty is also usually available at auto parts stores.
