Default Shop Update 2

So I got a couple of new toys to add to the collection. The first was an Incra Jig that I bought from Birch. Many thanks for that! I have used it a fair bit but haven't tried any of the dovetail or boxjoint work with it yet. I got some nice pieces of purple heart and bloodwood and even a piece of zebra wood that I am going to incorporate into a couple of projects with this jig.
The second was much needed dust collection. It just needs to find a "spot" in the garage where it's out of the way then I will need to build a boom for the hose. I found some plans online so I'm working on it.
The third was an impulse buy I found on Kijiji. A hollow chisel mortiser that is practically brand new! Only one chisel was ever used. It came with three drills/chisels and an extra drill chuck. Got it for less then half the price of a new one! Unfortunately it needs a stand or something because it is using up my last bit of bench space. Not that I have any room for a stand in the shop..
And the last picture is my cat who has designated herself as official shop mascot. If I close the door and don't let her in she makes quite a fuss. Of course she hasn't quite got used to the noise of the router and dust collector running at the same time .

Good morning Deb, nice additions, would love to have a mortising tool. The dust collector would sure work well with the Jet that I have hanging from the ceiling. As much as I would like to have a band saw a drill press and a few other things, the more I realize I need to some good dust collection first. The cat, sounds like a Manx we had once, acted so much like a dog that we named her "Dog", one confused animal.

Hi Deb,

Great new toys you have there and one beautiful cat too. What kind of boom do you have in mind on the DC? Need a pic of that for sure when you get it finished.

Nice toys, Deb! And I sure like your shop foreman. She's a cutie.

Thanks guys. Bob I found an idea for the DC boom in a weekly Woodsmith tip. I will post pics when I get it finished.
The cat was a stray who moved in rather quickly. There was nothing to her when we found her so I named her Little Bit. Now she answers to "Fatty"..lol

I used my Incra jig and a Freud bit to make the domino box for my Aunt. The joints came out so tight I had to file the fingers to put the box together. Very accurate.

Jerry I haven't had much luck with hand or router mortices lately. I wasn't in the market for a mortiser, I was actually looking for a floor model drill press. But the price was right and with my bad mortising experiences I couldn't resist.
