i've just starting working with wood and am very interested in learning dovetail joints. i have the router, dovetail template and the correct bit, however that is the end of my knowledge. is there anyone out there that can help?
Just new to wood then i suggest that your first encounter with the router should not be routing dovetails. There are plenty of postings should you care to look through the various pages.
Try something easier to get you started

Hi: I go along with Tom, there are lots of easier things todo to get started. But, if
you have some wood that you can practise with, follow the instructions for the dovetail jig a give it a try.
