Default Plant Stands and basket

My daughter asked for two plant stands that she wanted to donate to her church. So I hustled to get them made by Easter. Years ago I made 20 or 30 plant stands, but my mind was rusty on how I made them.

I made these out of mahogany. The columns are 24" tall and as usual I applied Zar oil-base polyurethane diluted with 50/50 paint thinner mineral spirits.

While I was working with the mahogany I decided to make my daughter a basket and had two hummingbirds engraved on it. Actually I made another basket out of tiger maple with hummingbirds which I will be shipping to a friend.

I recently used Sapele for the sides of a quilt ladder and agree, it finishes beautifully.
