Are the collets universal and fit all routers.

No they are not universal, some are Interchangeable
You need to find the part number for your collet on you particular router

I’m starting to think that if it looks really similar to someone else’s then there is a good chance they are the same collet.

Someone I consider a master woodworker once told me that a master woodworker is not someone who never makes mistakes. He is someone who is able to cover them up so that no one can tell.
