From Google - If memory serves me right, Black +Decker company, bought Elu power tools and sold under the DeWalt label. DeWalt, in ether 1984 or 1994, took over Elu power tools, the German wood-working power tool company and used Elu technology.
They were very popular in Europe. They were very well made and according to former member Phil P many are still in production use. They were bought out by B & D and I think it was Pat Warner who said that two models of DeWalt routers were direct knock offs. Sorry that I can't tell you what the letter difference means.
