I just picked up a Makita 3612 at a garage sale today for $5. It's missing the collet nut and collet cone. Funds are really low right now and I need to get it usable. Is my only option for these to parts to get the OEM factory replacement parts or is there a cheaper way for me to get the collet set up? The cheapest I've been able to find these parts on the web is $15.40 for the collet nut and $33.63 for the collet cone. Any advice greatly appreciated.
For some reason that link doesn't work for me. Anyway, thanks for the help. I noticed you live in Baldwin. I'm going to start building guitar amplifier enclosures and need to get set up for 1/4" box end joints as economically as possible. Have you had any experience with the oak park spacer fences? After reading through the forums here it looks like that product or something similar(home brew) could be the ticket for me. Do you have any thoughts on this?
I do have the OP spacers, they work great. I don't think you can go wrong with them.
Try this link: http://makita.com/en-us/Modules/Accessories/Default.aspx?CatID=186
Not sure what happened with the other I posted, I also didn't see any collets listed at their site either. You still may want to check out Ebay, you'll be surprised at what you'll find there.
