Hi,

I have a Craftsman fixed base router, 1/4" shaft that I'm not very happy with. The depth adjustment is REALLY tight to turn and the locking clamp tends to come undone. I'm thinking of retiring that to the router table and buying a plunge router. I'm a medium-skilled weekend woodworker at best.

I'm looking for recomendations for a plunge router for these uses:

Edge routing, dados and stopped dados, mortises.

I have a mortising machine but find the cleanup work to be tedious and each tenon seems to need custom fitting. I'm not that good with a chisel. I'm hoping that using a router for the mortises will let me make tenons on a wholesale basis more or less.

Any suggestions on a good mid-priced router would be welcomed.

Thanks, Don

Don if you intend to make moneywith your router go for the bousch. It is light easy to use and rugged. I have droped mine more times than I care to mention. If you just want to clean up mortises after you have used the machine I would just use a dremel. I do this a lot. It is so light and convient.
