Hello All
First post, recently purchase an Hitachi 12v2 I am not sure if there is a fault with the fine height adjustment system. It appears to be nearly OK freehand but when table mounted the router will not raise. You get a clicking noise when attempting to rise and the machine drops down about 2mm. Any ideas? What am I doing wrong? Anyone had similar troubles?
Hello! welcome to the forums. Are you sure that the router can move up and down with your help? Check the device that holds the router in position while routing. Also, it could be in the adjuster, if it is powered by gears that you turn to move it up and down could be misaligned. The router should move up and down with out anything grabbing. Also did you take your springs out? they help you to move the router up when hand routing, with little weight. Good luck.
Speaking only from experience with an M12V, to get the best use out of this router used in a table you will need to remove the springs and lightly lubricate the posts (I use STP). I am not sure if the dust boots on this model would interfere with raising and lowering the router or not Make sure you plunge lock is full released when you are adjusting the height I try and make my final adjustments by adjusting upward so as to take the backlash out of the adjuster.
I have assumed that you are dedicating this router to table use. If not, you can ignore the spring/dust boot parts
Replacement developed same fault today! going to try a Dewalt.
