Bosch 1617 vs 1613

I've been looking at mid-sized plunge routers and notice the 1617EVSPK and the 1613AEVS are have nearly identical specs and are priced almost identical. The 1617 comes with dual bases and the 1613 appears to come with the plunge base permanently attached.

I already have a Colt for small fixed base operation, a 15 Amp in a lift dedicated to my table and a 15 Amp plunge that can go either way.

Some day I'd like to add a smaller plunge to my collection and have been looking at the Bosches for a while. Is there any reason to choose one over the other, given the routers I already own?

Recently several people here have gotten the 1.1hp Trend plunge and would also welcome thoughts on if I should be considering that unit instead or defer on the small plunge router for some future date.

I saw that Trend over at Bobs' looked mighty fine to me. I guess getting the Bosch 1613 plunge is something you would like to do and have the $$$, go for it.

Jim, those are both great routers. I recommend the 1617, only because it leaves room to expand. You never know when you may want to make a portable table. Or a small table, dedicated to a specific task, and you will have the fixed base for it.

If I ever put a third router in a table people would think I was trying to compete with BJ.

BJ, how many router table mounting places *do* you have in that super-shop of yours? :)

Jim, I own both models you mentioned. The 1613EVS is a real pleasure to use but it does have some limitations. The 1617 series is an industrial grade router with a larger opening in the base. You would be happy with either model, both perform very well. I offered the 1613EVS for sale @ $100 here on the forums and on craigslist and nobody was interested. I am still surprized over that.
