I would like to get a router carving setup in my High School woodworking shop. I have been looking at the CompuCarve and the posts here about it. It sounds like it has lots of problems, is built poorly and will not be reliable or survive treatment by students. Does anyone have recommendations for either the compucarve or another machine so I can introduce this aspect to the students. One thing I wanted to do was to teach them how to calculate sundial hour lines and angles and to make a sundial design with the CAD software that they could then put on the machine and have it carved out.
Thanks,
Anthony

Anthony, you may want to consider the K2CNC systems of CNC routers. Reasonable prices and many sizes available. They will stand up better to repeated use than the occasional use of a Compucarve would. Do a Google search for K2CNC. Also, take a look at the CNCZone web site as there is a "ton" of info on anything CNC related there. I cannot post a URl until I have posted more than 10 times!
