Squeal during power-down

I have a +/-30-day-old Bosch 1617EVS. Between jobs, the unit has been used at least three days a week since purchase on red and white oak. Also, I live in Houston without a garage, or workshop. Thus, my work has been outside, and in the humidity.

Over the last week, as I power-down the unit, a squeal has developed. Within the last few days, the squeal has grown louder. I am guessing a bearing, but being new, I am unsure.

Also, I am unsure of what the definition of a brush, but I am guessing it is related to the bearings. The manual does not provide any advice on lubrication, other than being pre-lubricated. However, being so new, I would hate to void any warranty by dismantling the unit.

I would appreciate any help.

Thanks,

Welcome to the forums. The brush of which you speak is part of the electric motor and has nothing to do with the bearings. If the brushes go bad the thing just wont run. It does sound like you have a bad bearing. If I were you I would take it back to the place where the router was purchased. If they won't replace it at least they should be able to tell you where to take it for warranty service.

Trent,
George is right on! If the brushes were going out you would see a lots of sparks in the motor and makes a different noise. Rockler is very good about things like this, just be sure and take your paper work.
I live in TX too, not enough humidity here to do any harm, just don't leave them out in the rain.
