Routing Rabbets on curved work.

I am building a chest of drawers. Three of the top drawers have a curved top; that runs into straight section in the top of the drawer; on each side of the drawer. The drawer is a partial overlay drawer of the type done in 17th and 18th century furniture. I have made the rabbets on both sides with the table saw. The next step is to rabbet the curve on the top and the straight section. I have assumed that I will use a rabbet bit with a bearing possibly with a pattern jig to perform this operation. I am an weekend woodworker from Memphis; who supports his woodworking habit by practicing law. I will appreciate any advice. Charles Perkins

Hi Charles

Just use a good rabbet bit with a bearing on it ...it will follow the edge just fine,, you should not need a pattern the norm, unless you have some chips outs on the edges.
What the bearing sees, it will put in the rabbit edge..
