I am finding that the plunge mechanism has enough play (looseness) to be able to rock it a small amount when the plunge lock is released. Check it out and report back.
The key word is " released " you will never use the router in the wood in the released mode the norm.
It's true when you plunge router into the wood you may have a small bit of slop, but once you clamp the router in the slop will go away..I can almost hear you say it's to hard to push down, because the router is to tight on the columns (tubes) ..if you don't want the slop put out the bucks to get a better router..
