I want to learn how to make a circular pattern (as in a corner block) using my router. I'm not talking about the outer edges, but on the interior of the piece. Any tips or help pages I can view?
Hi Ken, welcome to the forums
Not sure exactly what you are trying to do but I think you are asking about a rosette cutter (see pic). Those can be done on a drill press with a special bit.
Looks like John got what you want to do.
The only down fall with the rosette cutters they are small the norm.2 1/2" in diam. and they are not cheap..
But here's work around that will work for this job,,make a master template with a hole in the center of it, that can be as big as you want to make, let's say a 4" rosette corner block, you would need a 5" hole the 1/2" thick template board.
Then stick the template to the stock you want to use, with pin nails ,,put your brass guide in your router , chuck the round nose/core bit plunge bit and go around the inside of the template to put in the 1st. cir.,and the rest of the cir.you want to have, you will need to make one or two off set rings that slip over the guide so you can move the bit in and move it over a little bit..
The off set rings are easy to make, see below, you can't use a standard cir.jig because it's needs a center it the center to hole the jig in place....and you don't want the center hole to show on the rosette..
