I am new here.
Hello all, I've been wrenching on an old wood lathe, new thrust bearings, bushings and such on an ancient 1950s Dunlap (Atlas) lathe, looking for a motor (found one), pok'n around a thrift shop and there was a Porter Cable Model 100 M&B (motor and base), for $13.47,

And I bought it, mostly for the motor, 120v ac/dc universal, which might could maybe work for a rod spinner I'm building, the rpm's were way too high, but I could lower the voltage to 12 volts DC and get a much lower, but stable rpm - then use it to belt drive the rod spinner to a low rpm. We rotate (fishing) rods as the epoxy (on the thread wraps holding the line guides) dries so the epoxy does not sag, 6-11 rpm is fine. My plan had plenty of holes and misinformation, but I bought the old router anyway.

I plugged this puppy in and it ran like new, sounded like new, and even looked like new ... so I pulled the brushes .... I believe I was the first person to ever turn it on, brand spank'n new (the brushes). The brushes (EG-B4) were not even run in (surfaced all across the face). The commutator ring looks factory new. This was NOS, new old stock. Even came with the original manual.

I wanted to pull the motor apart to check on the bearings, likely (?) pitted a bit just sitting around for fifty years. There is NO slop in the shaft, NONE. A Google search got me here cause a similar model Porter Cable router needed a dis-assembly to replace the power cord, and I wanted that dis-assembly info.

Anywho, hello. Looks like I'll support Rockler as they help support this site, buy some bits and try out my new, old, router, build a rod stand.

Ti
