Table Edge

I’m making a table top and would like to finish the edge with the bit shown on the pictures.

What RPM should I set the router?

Should I use the bit on handheld router or the table router?

I would prefer to use the table. Would the bearing at the top of the bit interfere?

Hi Nicolas, that looks like a standard 1/4" or so ogee? I would likely run at a fairly high speed and a fair feed rate.
As far as hand held vs. table - How big is the workpiece? If it's the least bit awkward on the table I'd run it by hand. The rule of thumb I've developed for myself over the last few months using a table is: "If it won't sit on the table by itself, it gets clamped to something and run by hand." Just my own threshold regarding safety.
Don't worry about the bearing, it will ultimately control the cut depth if the fence doesn't. If you decide to do it by hand you will need to use bearing size to control cut depth.

HI Nicolas

Run it 20,000 rpm's and it will work in both ways table or hand router..I not sure what you mean by saying " bearing interfere"

Table top is 20"x50" and I will use the table / fence since I feel more comfortable.

"Bearing interfering" I have never used a bit with bearing and don't know its purpose when this bit is used on a table with a fence. I guess it may be better to remove the bearing and use the fence to control the depth?

Thank you both

Hi kolias

If the bit is use on the router, it's use to line up the bit with the fence,,if it's not used on the router table the bearing is the built in fence.. :)
It's true you can remove the bearing but you must take great doing so,,most have a dog/stem for the bearing to run on, you don't want the stock to rub or hit on that part...it will heat up and wipe out the bit..:( it will turn that bright blue and the bit is toast ...
