Hello All,
I have learnt quite a bit over the past weekend after discovering this forum. I bought a bosch 1617evspk on Friday (good deal $170 + tax) and made couple of small things over the WE.

For a few years I have used a $10 Chicago electric cut out tool as a fixed router on a makeshift table attachment that I rigged up. I think I have outgrown it now.

I would like to get some advice on template guides. I got some good links from a previous thread; What is the current opinion on this?

I would like to be able to use my plunge router to make curves and also carve out letters. I dont fully understand how templates work. I have downloaded Template Tom's pdf and plan on reading that this week.

Thanks.

Jai

Hello and welcome, jai, Glad to have you here. I think that for information, you can and use the search feature on the forum. About everything that you would like to do, you will find information in the net. For learning about tools, inc templates, The router workshop is on the net, and about forty shows have been released and can be viewed 24 hour a day. Oak Park has some good tools and videos to see them in action, I will get a few places to watch. Router Forums below are the short cuts: Having trouble, someone will have it. Make sure to check out the table, and see the add videos
