well this is not exactly routing , but before I can finish the edged of a project I need to build it. I am creating an 8 sided box and cannot, for the life of me, figgure out the angles for the sides, Where is the NEW MATH section??

Just for kicks pull out a scrap 2 x 4 ,set the chop/miter saw at 22.5 deg. cut up some blocks that are 6" long, 8 ea. you just made a 2 x 4 clock ,, they you will see it..
1. They could both be cut at 22.5 degrees
2. One could be cut at 45 degrees, and the other one not at all
3. Any other combination of angles that results in a combined angle of 45 degrees
One can get some interesting designs by playing with those angles. Having them all at 22.5 degrees is perfectly symmetric, and it looks nice, but, honestly, it's a bit boring
Cheers! MM[/QUOTE]
If the angle in question-45° is not created with 2- 22.5°cuts, there will be a difference in how much exposed surface each cut creates when the cut edges are mated.
Just a thought.
