Default Craftsman Router Model # 31517381

Hey, guys I need a little help determining if my craftsman router model # 31517381, can use a 1/2 collet. I have two routers one is only able to use 1/4 bits, but this router I notice that the collet can be taken out, so that had me wondering. I have a raised panel router set I would love to put to use, but I have no manual to this router to detemine if I can use the bits which are 1/2 at the shaft? I was also wondering the threading that he collet nut screws onto is about a 1/2 in diameter, so that makes me wonder if I can use a 1/2 collet and bit on this router. Any help would be appreciated, Thanks.

Joe

Hi Joe

Just a work around, they make and sale 1/4" shank raised panel router bits.

Here's just one of many
