Default Skil 1/4" Fixed Base Router ?

I bought my father in-law a Skil 1/4" Fixed Base Router 2 years ago . He always wonted a router but never got around to get one so I thought it would be nice for me to get him one . I was always told that Skil was a good name brand and Ryobi was not as good . He used it once and the switch is broken . Skil did send him a new router but I just thought they where a good brand to go with . I paid a cuople of dollars more for a Ryobi because Lowes where out of routers so I wemt across the road to Home Depo and got one . I have not had any problems with my Ryobi . He was told by the person from Skil that this is a common problem . My thought is than why sell them in till it is fixed ?

Hi Mike - I've got several different Skil tools and some Ryobi tools. IMHO they are a decent tool for the money but not top of the line stuff by any stretch.

The problem with experience is I usually get it immediately after I need it.
