Default Plunge base for routers ?

I am new to using routers . I got a fixed base Ryobi router . Can you buy a plunge base for most routers ? Or if I wont a plunge base will I have to get another router ?

It depends on the model of router you have. Most of the major brands have a model that can switch between a fixed and plunge base. If you router motor is not easily removed from the fixed base, then there likely is not a plunge base for it.

OK Thanks . My router has a lever that you flip and the motor comes off .

That sounds like the ryobi I got with the router/table combo.

I never got around to checking ryobi's web site to see if there was a plunge base available for it before I was surprised with a plunge router. Still not a 1/2" one, so I will need another router in the future.
