That I suppose would depend very much on what you need to do and also how much money you are willing to spend. The one thing that I would recommend is that you not buy tools of any kind from the big box outlets in order to save money, there is a reason that they can sell for less. Do yourself a favor and by direct from the manufacturers outlet, in the long run it's cheaper. It's a lesson that I learned from my Grandfather and it's one well worth knowing.
Now I know there are going to be those who disagree and will argue this point but like I said there is a reason the the big box stores can sell for less and it's because they sell you less quality. Oh they may well look the same from the outside but when the big boys say they will take x number of millions of units but only at a certain price per unit then companys like Hitachi, Makita et al will cut corners to sell in quantity.
It's the same in every business not just power tools but everything from batteries to small engines. The bottom line is that one gets what one pays for.
